Pedro Andre Cunha
|
openlab Summer Student, IT-GS Group, from 30/06/09 to 21/08/09 |
|
Pedro Andre Cunha is a student at the Ecole Polytechnique
Federale de Lausanne (EPFL) - Switzerland, currently
attending the last year of his MSc in Computer Science. He
got a BSc in Informatics Engineering from University of
Coimbra - Portugal. During his openlab Summer Student
Internship he designed
and implemented a monitoring system for problematic data
subscriptions over the Grid. The system is in production and
being used by IT/GS - ATLAS DDM team. |

Marc D'Arcy
|
openlab Summer Student, IT-DI Group, from 22/06/09 to 14/08/09 |
|
Marc D'Arcy
has recently completed his undergraduate studies having
graduated from Brunel University, West London, UK with a
BEng first class
honours degree in Computer Systems Engineering.
Working within openlab this summer, Marc investigated the
optimization potential when moving to Nehalem and future
Intel architectures. Investigations were carried out
on two high energy physics applications - ROOT (Data
Analysis Framework) and a multiple threaded Geant4
prototype. Key parts of the ROOT framework were
enhanced to utilize Intel IPP based functions, achieving
some 30% additional performance increase at run-time. Aside
from the work carried out this summer, Marc has an interest
in a broad array of technologies with current research
interest in embedded system design, accelerators and GPUs
for computation, augmented reality and image processing
technologies.

Hifsa Kazmi
|
openlab Summer Student, IT-DES Group, from 26/06/09 to 21/08/09 |
|
My name is Syeda Hifsa Kazmi and I am
pursuing a bachelors degree in Computer Software Engineering
from Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and
Technology (GIKI), Pakistan. At CERN I worked in IT-DES-SIS
group on Grid Control and Change Management which was about
using OEM10g Grid Control Repository views as a source of
data for identifying change events, and automatically feed
them into Change Management (CM) database.

Raquel Mendez Gomez
|
openlab Summer Student, IT-DES Group, from 22/06/09 to 14/08/09 |
|
Raquel Mendez Gomez is a student studying for a double major
at the Universidad Autnoma de Madrid, Spain. In June 2010
she will graduate with an MEng in Computer Science and an
MSc in Mathematics. She is very enthusiastic, and enjoys
solving challenging problems. During her stay at CERN she
was a member of the IT-DES-DIS department, working on the
project "Integration of Oracle Virtualization with CERN
fabric management" with the aim to integrate Oracle VM with
existing fabric management system, ELFms.

Massimo Paladin
|
openlab Summer Student, IT-GS Group, from 15/06/09 to
07/08/09 |
|
Massimo Paladin is a
student, he graduated from the University of Udine with a
bachelors degree in Computer Science. He is currently
finishing his masters degree in Computer Science at Udine
with one exam and the master project left.
During his openlab Summer
Student Programme at CERN he worked in IT/GS/ DMA. He worked
on Hammercloud, a stress-testing system to commission grid
sites for distributed analysis activities. He developed a
new web interface for the visualization of the stress test
results with an administration part for the operators. It is
now in production for the ATLAS experiment.
