openlab summer students 2010

Gazmend Bajrami

openlab Summer Student, IT-DI Group, from 05/07/10 to 29/08/10

My name is Gazmend Bajrami. I am currently attending the last year of MSc in Information Security in Gjøvik University College, Norway. In 2002 I became a student at the University of Prishtina where I studied Informatics in Faculty of Applied Technical Sciences in Mitrovica. As a regular student and with the highest possible interest in the studies I graduated after three years of studies and by 2005 I got the Bachelor degree in Informatics. During the period of studies I have been provided the prize of “The Best Student” by University of Prishtina on February 2005. In 2005, after the graduation, the panel of lecturers proposed me to join them as a regular Teaching Assistant at the University of Prishtina, Faculty of Applied Technical Sciences where I work for three years (2006-09). In 2009 I started my Master’s studies in Gjøvik University College, Norway. My main fields of interest are Information security, Network Security, Software Security, Computer Programming, Network Programming, Operating systems and the security of Operating Systems.

Imon Banerjee

openlab Summer Student, IT-DI Group, from 12/07/10 to 03/09/10

My name is Imon Banerjee and I am pursuing my Master degree in Information Technology from National Institute Of Technology, Durgapur, India. The CERN-Intel collaboration carries out multiple benchmarking to assess performance of processors, configuration systems, compilers, as well as the effect of other parameters on performances such as the volume of data processed by the benchmark programs. However, it turns out that comparisons of the results obtained from different benchmarking tests are generally extremely difficult to interpret. Here, I am developing a tool that could comparise different Performance Benchmarking results.

Alexandre Beche

openlab Summer Student, IT-DB Group, from 05/07/10 to 10/09/10

Alexandre Beche, a French student at SUPINFO International University (Grenoble), is currently attending the last year of his engineer degree in Information Technologies. During his stay at CERN in IT-DB group, he is working on the implementation of Corrective Actions for policies violations in Oracle Enterprise Manager.

He has more than 13 years of programming experience in various programming languages and technologies. His main fields of interest are Programming Languages, Natural Language Processing, Cloud Computing... Nikolche is the author of RDXPL, a multi-paradigm dynamic programming language. At CERN, he works on the Indico project, as part of the openlab Summer Student Programme.

Felice Pantaleo

openlab Summer Student, IT-DI Group, from 02/08/10 to 25/09/10

Felice Pantaleo is a MSc student in High Energy Physics from the University of Pisa, Italy. He received his BSc in Physics from the University of Bari (Italy) where he started studying Parallel Computing for Multi- and Many-Cores Architectures. During his experience at CERN in IT-DI group, he has worked on Massive Parallelisation of Data Analysis Applications as part of the ROOT Framework.

Diana-Andreea Popescu

openlab Summer Student, IT-DI Group, from 05/07/10 to 31/08/10

Diana Andreea Popescu is a student at Politehnica University of Bucharest, Romania, currently attending the last year of her BSc in Computer Science. Her main interests include parallel architectures, compilers, embedded systems and  artificial intelligence. During her stay at CERN, she is working on the extraction and maintenance of latest benchmarks representative of the four major experiments' frameworks, as well as the production of a detailed paper documenting the findings and the process.

Cristian Regep

openlab Summer Student, IT-DI Group, from 28/06/10 to 10/09/10

Cristian Regep is currently pursuing a degree in Software Engineering with Management from the University of Edinburgh. His interests encompass the study of Computer Systems and the Software Development cycle through scientific and engineering means.  During the summer of 2010, he will be participating in the CERN openlab Summer Student Programme.

Marius George Sandu Popa

openlab Summer Student, IT-DB Group, from 05/07/10 to 03/09/10

Marius George Sandu Popa is a student at the University Politehnica of Bucharest - Romania, currently attending the last year of his MSc in Computer Science. During his openlab Summer Student Internship, he is designing and implementing a Live Virtual Guest Management tool for Oracle VM.
