The first series of 10-Gigabit Ethernet
cards from Intel were delivered to CERN on 14 March
2003. The four 10GbE cards were installed on HP
dual-processors systems. In a first stage, the systems
will be connected back-to-back, resulting in two twin
hard-wire pairs. These direct connections will allow to
test inter-working and to conduct fast high-throughput
tests, via memory-to-memory exchanges.
