During the first presentation,
Milosz Marian Hulboj gave an
update of the CINBAD (CERN Investigation of Network Bahavior
Anomaly Detection) project, a collaborative activity between
CERN and HP ProCurve. After having exposed the motivation for
using the Time Series Data Mining, Milosz gave a short
introduction to Time Series. He also gave details about the SAX
representation of the Time Series Data. A technical report summarising
the team
findings is currently under preparation. Milosz concluded by explaining the
team future plans concerning further investigations related to
recent Time Series developments.
Julien Leduc, who joined the openlab team and its Platform
Competence Centre in March 2009 as a fellow funded by Intel,
gave his first Minor Review Meeting presentation. He presented
the first results of the Intel® Xeon®
5500 (Nehalem) benchmarks conducted together with Axel
Busch who also joined in March 2009 as a technical student. These recent benchmarks
compare three different models of the Intel Xeon 5500 generation
which was released by the end of March 2009. Julien presented
the SPEC2006 rate results when using the C++ subset of the
benchmarks and also detailed the results when the following
features are switched on for better performance:
Intel® Hyper-Threading Technology (Intel® HT Technology) mode,
Intel ® Turbo Boost Technology (overclocking), and finally
64-bit mode.
Further benchmarks are still on-going.
Next CERN openlab Minor Review Meeting will be hold on 19 May
2009.
