The first two presentations covered the latest work of the
Platform Competence Centre while the third one was given by the
Database Competence Centre.
Julien Leduc
presented the new Intel Nehalem NUMA architecture and its advantages before
giving a quick reminder about the single and dual socket
designs. He explained that the memory
latency measurements show non uniform aspect of the memory.
Julien gave a detailed explanation of the quad socket design and briefly presented
some CFD benchmarks.
In
his talk,
Andrzej Nowak described the
Nehalem-EX scalability tests and their
results, stressing the excellent and
unprecedented scalability obtained with the multi-threaded
Geant4 prototype. He also highlighted specific SMT benefits.
Eric Grancher
covered the
Intel Nehalem-EX and the Oracle workload tests.
