- CERN openlab student study tour to Grenoble on 12th July
24 students joined this tour, which visited three high-tech
sites in Grenoble: the HP/Intel Business Solutions Centre, at the HP facility;
MINATEC, France's largest micro and nanotechnology centre, and the European
Synchrotron Radiation Facility.

- CERN openlab student study tour to EPFL on 6th August
This tour, co-organised with the University of Delaware, took a group of 22
openlab students and 13 from Delaware to EPFL. The 'Ecole Polytechnique Federale
de Lausanne' is one of the top two technical universities in Switzerland. A
series of lectures gave a cross-section of research activities at EPFL, with an
emphasis on computer science and its applications.
