Networking Competence Centre

In CERN openlab III, one of the focuses of the NCC was CINBAD, a research project launched by CERN and HP ProCurve to understand the behaviour of large computer networks (10’000+ nodes) in High Performance Computing or large Campus installations. The project is now completed and the results are described in a dedicated section of the website. Another activity was the Grid Monitoring and Messaging Projects carried out in collaboration with EDS (an HP Company). Since February 2010, a new openlab team under the codename WIND (Wireless Infrastructure Network Deployment) carries out research and provides new algorithms, guidelines and solutions to support the deployment and operation of the Wi-Fi infrastructure at CERN.

The NCC and CINBAD Project Results: May 2009 - May 2010
